The Châteliers Abbey
The Châteliers Abbey was founded in the 12th century. It is an essential visit, located near the village of La Flotte where the remains are enough to make you dream of its past splendours. Listed as a historical monument, this abbey was completed by the Cistercian monks in 1156 and represents the starting point for the production of wine and salt on the Ile de Ré.
